One of the highlights of a recent holiday to South Africa was an all to brief stay at Kariega Game Reserve's River Lodge.
While doing a little research to get an idea of what camera kit I would need to take to South Africa I checked out the reserves blog at www.kariega.co.za. It was on the blog that I read a remarkable story about a female rhinoceros called Thandi. Thandi is the worlds only rhinoceros that has survived a poaching attempt, not only has she survived she has produced three wonderful calves, Thembi, Colin and Mthetho. Its a beautiful ongoing story and well worth reading.
My thanks go to Matthew Dingaan, our very knowledgeable guide who put us in the right place to get these photographs, and all the lodge staff for making our stay so memorable.
